The Garment District is a new club that I have created and started at the University of Delaware. It was formed after hearing from students that they desired more from there education. Students were craving to know about other aspects of design, menswear, swimwear, interior design, just to name a few. They wanted to explore other options but the university's design program could not accommodate their desires. So I started the club to do just that, provide an out let where students can learn more about fashion and the many job opportunities available to them.
The Garment District will have focuses of the month, this will provide a month of learning on a specific topic of interest. March we are going to start with Jewelry design. We are going to have presentations, videos, field trips and guest speakers come to the meetings and learn all aspects of jewelry design. After exploring the field we will have contest of the month that will focus on jewelry making. It is club that will also attract people that are not fashion majors and are just interested for a hobby.
The club will launch this spring semester 2009 we are having a launch party, so come and meet the member, eat and listen to a guest speaker. We would love to see you there. More information will be posted about the club throughout the semester.
