Philly FUN!! Check out these amazing portraits painted by a student attending Drexel University. They were as big as my body and were the brightest pieces in the park.

Phasion Phest 2010

The University of Delaware was in the building! On September 28th, 2010 Phashion Phest was hosted to kick off Philadelphia Fashion Week. The 17th annual Phasion Phest was an event that showcased premier Philadelphia designs while the pre-show were design schools in the area and appetizers were served to create an environment of fun and fashion.

A variety of different schools participated Drexel University, Moore College and Philadelphia school of the arts just to name a few schools. For the University of Delaware three students were chosen to showcase their previous designs at the event. Emily Meres, Lauren Gollicker and I displayed designs from our Junior Draping class. It was a great event and it was filled with fun!!

This summer I was extremely busy!! Along with my internship with Ravin Denim and working part-time with Ann Taylor Loft I also volunteered my time to help a company called Harlem's Fashion Row. It is a company formed to promote young black and hispanic designer. On Friday September 17th I took part in the fashion exhibit which showcased designs from Sammy B., Viscera NY, Niiamar and Telfar. I helped set up and organize the event which took place in the Studio Museum in Harlem, New York. It was a great time meet great people and learned a lot from the experience.

Invite you to talk progress,
power, presence, diversity
in the world of publishing!

"Fashion Takes a Trip to Post Racial USA?"
Welcome to a community conversation about fashion,
beauty, lifestyle, race, and representation in the media.

This Fashion Week marks powerful firsts. The presence of a range of black beauty on the covers of Elle and Vogue. The image of blackness flourishes, but how is the presence of diversity in the publishing world? We take the pulse of the industry and media. We ask which magazines have hired, who have they hired and what does that reveal about diversity in post racial USA? Black women may adorn mainstream magazine covers, but, there are no black people holding the top position of Fashion Director at any major magazine. What do you say that means for the fashion, beauty, lifestyle, media in post-racial America?

THIS FRIDAY!
September 17, 2010
6:00pm
Join us for this critical,
community conversation.
This is about your voice. Come. Be Heard.
Who’s in or out on the diversity runways of the publishing industry?
