New York Fashion Week

I had the opportunity to take part in New York Fashion Week. I interned for Tracy Reese Summer 2009 and was unable to help out with the show but this year I was actually in the country and was able to be a dresser for her show. I had to travel miles before I reached my home and after an exhausting night I dressed in all black (all dressers had to wear black) and headed to Lincoln Center for the big show.

This was the first time Fashion Week was in Lincoln Center which is located uptown and showcase the top musicians and dancers. Lincoln Center was just remodeled and the tents were set up right near the main theatre. The entrance was grand and an architecturally intriguing.

Inside people were everywhere. Most people were sitting in all the different stations set up for people. There was a compact area for what seemed like bloggers all linked to there computers typing away, instant news and satisfaction for those fashionistas. I had a few sightings like Miss Jay from Top Model, Andre Leon Tally, a multitude of stylist and models and Robert Verdi.

Below is Tracy Reese waiting to get on stage after the show was complete! She's the best and I loovvved the collection. The collection was very dreamlike 1970s. Large sunglasses big floppy hats and the oh so memorable bow tie shirt which she exatrated and made the ends almost reach the knees of the models. My favorite were the usage of leather like fabrics that had small holes, it was a great textile choice and made great jackets and dresses. She also used a lot of lace and textured textiles and prints which she is known for.

Dressing for the Tracy Reese show was a whirl wind. One minute I was starting and the next it was all over. Of course I tried to take as many pictures as I can but time was so fast. I had to dress one model three times once she was on the stage she was coming right back it was extremely fast but a great experience. Below are the few photos I was able to snap of the chaos backstage.

She was my favorite model, shes gonna be the next Chanel Iman.

Students I worked with during my internship we were reunited...Katie Elks!
It was a great opportunity and I can not wait till Feburary who knows what shows I will attend then.
