Governors Island

Continuing my quest to find inspiration for the creation of my senior collection I decided to travel to Governors Island. Nestled in the middle of Brooklyn and Manhattan a small island of the past is waiting to be discovered. On Saturdays and Sundays you can take the ferry over to the island for FREE! It takes off at Pier 6 in Brooklyn. This past Saturday there is a Jazz Picnic. An array of people went out dressed in there finest 1920's garb and picnicked and danced the day way. I love the 1920's and have found a lot of inspiration from this era. I know that the beading and low waist lines are something I might use in my next design. Here are a few photos from the event.

We ended the day with a spicy treat, Jerk Chicken!!! It was soooo good. If you go to the island there are not many restaurants and the best place to go is Veronica's!!! After traveling around the island on the quest for food everyone told us to get Veronica's.
