Premiere Vision Preview New York just concluded its much-anticipated
presentation of the Fall-Winter 2009 fabrics and trends. Now in its 9th
year, Premiere Vision never ceases season after season to bring fresh
ideas to America and its dynamic fashion market.
Through its close cooperation with weavers, color and raw materials
experts, Premiere Vision has developed over many years a
highly-respected expertise in trends. In a series of trend tasting
seminars that have become so popular they regularly sell out, Sabine Le
Chatelier, associate fashion director, shares with buyers, designers
and merchandisers direction and creativity that the rest of the world
only discovers two months later in Paris.
The Fall-Winter 2009 trends fall into three large themes split into
three segments: Subjective Impulsions that translate into deep dark
colors, dynamic tailoring or acid tones. Chain Reactions are about
color richness, boiled knits and wool lace. Alternative Reflections put
emphasis on the softness of cashmere, rustic linen, asymmetry and
minimalism. Seasonal colors spread over a popular color wall while
actual color samples are available for sale: The precious color card
will accompany creative teams throughout the conception of their own
lines.
Fabric offerings were stunning: Deep, muted colors and textures that
only reveal sophistication and technical expertise upon touch. The 116
weavers present on the floor count among the most fashion-forward mills
in the world. Their creation is broken down into style universes to
facilitate viewing and more importantly, to signal the market of the
garment it is intended for. The fabric forum constitutes the focus and
synthesis of the Fall-Winter 2009 fabric collections and provides all
the references that designers need to engage the weavers and fabric
professionals. From that moment on, a true team effort emerges and
partnerships are born across continents until collections hit the
stores.
A new installation sponsored by The European Confederation of Flax and
Hemp showcased linen as the perfect eco fiber. A conference entitled
Exploring the eco-friendly qualities of linen, sustainable development
& emerging trends attracted designers interested in the versatility of
this ancient, yet contemporary fiber.
